First, I'll start with the shortest topic. Dear old MJ. I know people are starting to get sick of him, but in my eyes, if people want to care about Michael Jackson, then let them be and shut the fuck up. "Why do people care so much about Michael Jackson" is such an ignorant question on so many levels of wrong I could punch a baby. It blows my mind.
Anyways, I just wanted to reflect about my first MJ memory. Because that is what blogs are FOR. For REFLECTION.
My first memory was not Thriller. Though its a close second. It's actually this video. I can't embed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go73FIWBOio
When I first saw this video, I thought MJ was a woman. Honest to blog. On the Free Willy VHS tape, this music video plays before the movie starts. That was my favorite movie in 1993/94. I watched it every day and saw the music video A LOT. And then, when I saw the Thriller video the next Halloween, I was fascinated that he wasn't white. Like why is he black there when he looked so white here? I was like 4, ok. Literally. Anywho, Will You Be There is amazing and underrated. Legit. I almost want to watch Free Willy right now, but its been 10 years, and movies are never as good as you remember them. I'm afraid to ruin it.
SECOND TOPIC:
Christa Black's blog.
How can you not love her blog? Unless you're a cynical, close-minded, jehovah's witness.....or just an athiest with no heart. Along with some great advice and stories, this woman speaks so much truth about God, Jesus, and religion. Like, I'm not a fan of religion, and I breathed so much RELIEF when I read that Christa HATES religion. Because I finally felt that someone else gets it. Someone else knows what I know. That organized religion sucks, but God is absolutely wonderful. And that Jesus Christ is a total BAD ASS.
For some reason, people cannot seperate religion and God. Its like they go together, a two for one deal. Say, if you don't like the Catholic Church, then you can't like God. If you're an outsider to the Church, you're an outsider in the eyes of God. And that is so utterly not the case AT ALL. Unfortunately, religion has become something it was never meant to be, through history, politics, corruption, and the media. Christa explains it very well in one of her blog posts exactly what I mean.
But there are people out there that will have none of that talk, and they will call you stupid, wrong, naive, foolish, and selfish for thinking that you don't need religion to know Him. I've already experienced some of it. So did Miley Cyrus when she expressed her views on gay marriage. And I'm sure Christa has gotten similar feeback critising her for talking blasphemy and preaching the wrong message. I mean, I wouldn't put it past anybody. The Shack is criticised by religious leaders for the same thing, when you would think it would be EMBRACED by the religious community.
I'm so glad someone like Christa is getting that message out there to thousands of people.
